AICTE Committee Formation

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is the national-level body responsible for accrediting and regulating technical education in India. As part of our commitment to maintaining high standards in education and complying with AICTE’s guidelines and recommendations, S.M. Arumugam Polytechnic College has formed various committees to ensure efficient management, governance, and continuous improvement of academic and administrative processes.

The AICTE Committee at our college is designed to oversee the implementation of policies and practices in alignment with AICTE norms, and to address any concerns related to quality, standards, and student welfare. Below is an outline of the key committees formed to ensure smooth functioning and uphold the principles of excellence in technical education:

SC/ST COMMITTEE

Aim /Objectives:

  • Empower students belonging to the backward sections of societies belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes
  • Implementation of various schemes meant for educational purpose through Scheduled Caste and Schedules Tribes Sub-Plan schemes, Reservation Policy co-ordination etc. in order to ensure their empowerment through Social Justice, Economic Welfare, and Social Defense

Functions of the SC/ST Committee:

  • Resolves the Grievances of SC/ST students and employees of the college.
  • The necessary help in solving their academic as well as administrative problems.
  • Looks after the work related to SC/STS matters and other work is assigned to the Cell.
  • Ensures the effective implementation of the guidelines /policies and programmes of the Government of India and State Governments with regard to backward castes, classes and physically challenged.
  • Collects data regarding the implementation of the policies in respect of admissions, appointments to teaching and non teaching positions in the institute and informs the same to the deserve people.
  • Gives wide publicity through circulars to all the faculties and informs the students about the various scholarships.

ANTI DRUG COMMITTEE

The 544- S M Arumugam Polytechnic College Anti-Drugs Committee was constituted to ensure a drug-free campus. Possession or consumption of drugs and alcohol on or off the college campus by college students is strictly prohibited. The Anti-Drugs Committee conducts awareness programs in colleges with the help of government. recognized institutions and organizations. The duties of the Anti-Drugs Committee are to educate students about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, promote peer policing among students against drug use, and inform the Head of the AntiDrugs Committee if any student is using a drug.

ANTI RAGGING COMMITTEE

In order to prevent ragging, ESPTC has taken utmost care in the college campus “Anti-Ragging
Committee” has been formed as per AICTE notification to carryout enquiry of any such complaints and
carryout surprise visits to key places in the campus. Affected students and parents can contact the
members through mail or phone.

Actions to be taken against students for indulging and abetting ragging in our institutions.

  • The punishment to be meted out to the persons indulged in ragging has to be exemplary and justifiably harsh to act as a deterrent against recurrence of such incidents.
  • The Anti-Ragging Committee of the institution shall take an appropriate decision with regard to punishment or otherwise, depending on the facts of each incident of ragging and nature and gravity of the incident of ragging.
  • Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offence as established the possible punishments for those found guilty of ragging at the institution.

GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL COMMITTEE

In order to provide opportunities for Redressal of any grievances of students enrolled in ESPTC, as well as for those seeking admission to our institutions, As per AICTE Regulation (Redressal of Grievance of students) we have established the grievance Redressal mechanism in our institution.

Objective

  • To provide a mechanism to students of the college to air out their grievances and to provide Redressal for the same so that they have smooth tenure at the college from the day of admission.

prevention and prohibition of ragging and deal with the issue of gender based violence the internal
complaint committee is formed with the following members

  • To ensure the implementation of the policy in letter and spirit through proper reporting of the
    complaints and their follow-up procedures.
  • To uphold the commitment of the Institute to provide an environment free of gender based
    discrimination
  • To develop a policy against sexual harassment of women at the Institute.

STUDENT COUNSELLOR COMMITTEE

Objective

The main objective of student counsellor committee is to assist students in their growth and development by constructing meaningful educational plans which are compatible with their life goals. It is a continuous and consistent process which is built upon the basis of frequent, accumulated personal contacts. Excellent academic programs will guide and counsel properly.
